Writer's Block: Neurotic Behavior

What is the one thing you're most neurotic about?

View other answers

Right now I'm completely neurotic about my portfolio. I have this VISION, you see.. And it will be WONDERFUL! I'm learning Adobe Dreamweaver, and I've gone through their tutorial with their sample page, but my little wee brainy can't seem to translate what I've learned into a way to create what I'm envisioning. I'm losing sleep over this. Seriously. I woke up last night trying to turn my ovals and swirls into a table, because so far that's what I've learned.

One really kewl thing, tho. I registered http://www.amiebrannon.com for 5 YEARS!!! IT'S MINE BABY! Right now there's just a placeholder page with my email contact, but I think it's kewl nonetheless. I may just put something relatively generic together just to have something better than the placeholder, and then pursue my vision once I've gotten more comfortable with Dreamweaver.

I'm also trying to find a good webhost. I wanted to go with Yahoo, but they're expensive. I found another one that looks good, but I've never heard of them before. They have a 99.9% guaranteed uptime, 24 hr phone support, lots of bandwidth and storage space, and they're like $5/month. So they seem good, I just wish I knew what other people use.

This is what I want to use for my background image. Which is another thing I can't figure out how to do. NOWHERE in the tutorial does it give any instruction on how to use an overall background image. Bleh.

dang, can't see the picture, just a big black box.

oh, remind me to set aside a bag or two of the mexican sweet chili tea from yogi teas. i'll have to add it to the other teas i've set aside for you. :)

does your present internet provider not prvide you with webhosting?

It is mostly a big black box. But if you look at your monitor from different angles, it should resolve into a twisty, mossy bunch of tree roots. It's really dark with just hints of the green and brown. It's subtle. Maybe too subtle. I'll probably try to lighten it up a bit. :-)

That Mexican chili tea sounds great! I really like the Yogi teas. Do you like licorice? I'll bring you some of that, it's really good.

You know, I didn't even think to check with Comcast. They've given me all sorts of shit for my 'amiedesigns' email, tho.. They cancelled it without telling me because they thought it was a business addy. So I don't think they'd host my business-related site either. I don't know. They're a pain to work with.

Well, off to learn about fucking CSS sheets. Yay. Wish me luck! :-)

PS Have you booked your condo yet? I'm so hyper for you guys! :-)

You could just shock the hell out of him and kidnap him for a long weekend.. That's how Navarre and I got married. We had our rings, and we were going to wait for the commitment ceremony at Pride, but for our 1 yr anniversary in May, I kidnapped her, and took her to a lesbian B&B in Asheville.. We said our vows privately at the NC Arboretum (sp?)..

Just call his boss and ask for a day off for him, pack his stuff, and hustle him into the car one morning. It would be fun! :-)

heh, he's paying for it and we don't share a bank account so i don't think kidnapping would work. he looked at the key west travel site and was impressed, so right now it's on top of the list. we're going to go while he is on xmas vacation from work. im excited - we have never taken a proper vacation - sad since we've been together for like 12 years! we've only ever had time/money for a weekend drive to north GA to rent cabins a couple of times.

ah! i see the design now! it never occurred to me to move. it is a bit subtle, even after moving the monitor/my body. i wouldn't have know what it was if you hadn't said something. very cool though!
